      Hey there Fin and Jake,

My favourite engineer has got to be Isambard Kingdom Brunel – he came up with many innovative solutions to long-standing engineering problems. He set the standard for a well-built railway – by surveying the land before he built on it. And was also responsible for building three steam-powered iron-hulled ships (rather than wooden ships) that revolutionised naval engineering.

You should certainly read more about him – here’s a good link: http://www.history.co.uk/biographies/isambard-kingdom-brunel
