      Hi Izzy,

      To be honest, yes. About a year ago I was in despair that what I was working on was too hard and I’d never understand it or make headway. But I realised that there are always people you can talk to, get ideas from, ask for help. There are multiple books and papers that explain concepts, and now many online courses that help you learn what you need to. I personally find it quite tough in research being my own boss and not having a set direction (I decide what methods to try to get to the end goal). But there are always support systems available. And perspective makes a big difference! I am motivated by the big picture goal of my research – I’m passionate about healthcare and the potential to change people’s lives – so when I have tough days, this keeps me going.
